It sounds like what you really want to do is set the SSDs as a FlashPool to accelerate the SAS disks: https://library.netapp.com/ecmdocs/ECMP1196912/html/GUID-59468979-C58C-4283-9DC5-427BD0797A08.html

Turning on NFS
Re: Turning on NFS
Do you have a seperate NFS SVM/vserver created?
Re: Turning on NFS
Re: Turning on NFS
They run over IP.
I would create a seperate NFS SVM, so you can tinker and not worry about doing anything to your prod iSCSI. Let me know if you need assist on doing that.
Re: Turning on NFS
Re: Using Fabricpool in same box
The only reason I didn't add that was that due to SSD capacities now, and the limited number of spinning disks, and the built in flashcache of the FAS2750, it could be an unproductive option that just reduces overall capacity - but it's a fair point.
ONTAP Deployment on PCIe SSDs
Hello, I need your help. I want to create a 2-node ONTAP Select 9.6RC1 (90-day Evaluation License) HA cluster on ESXi 6.7 for my test environment. This target will be used from the bare-metal Windows Server 2016. As bare-metal hosts, I use 2 Dell PowerEdge R730 servers:
- 2xCPU - Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2683 v3 @ 2.00GHz;
- 128GB RAM;
- 1x 1TB HDD (for boot) ;
- 1x Intel NMVe DC P3700 (PCIe 2TB);
- 2x Mellanox Connectx-4 Lx 40GbE.
I have a bunch of questions.
1. Can I create the target on NVMe drives? Could you provide the manual on how that can be done? If there’s no way to use PCIe SSDs, where can I find any recommendations on the hardware that can be used to create a target?
2. What’s the lowest possible number of SATA or PCIe SSDs is needed in each server to ensure the highest possible target performance (I'm also curious about their minimal capacity)?
external fpolicy
hi to all
we are searching for a software to use in CIFS shares to limit the users according to their file restrictions polies .I mean File screening according to the user rights.(external fcpolicy server)
Does anybody have any experince with those software, and can suggest me to use anyof them.

WAFL reserve taking large space in aggregate
hi,
we have NetaApp 8.1.4p1 7 Mode
i have an aggreagte aggr01 of 8276 gb and it had a volume of 7443 gb now i have destroyed that volume. Now there is no volume in this aggr. it doesnt allow me to create new volume of size 7443 gb as its WAFL reserve is 4728 gb. i am wondering why that huge WAFL reserve . it took only 10% of the aggr but here it to high. please help me why is so as i need this volume to be created. if no help received i will detroy the aggr and re create it. plz guide
Re: WAFL reserve taking large space in aggregate
You should consider upgrading to either latest version of 7-mode or start thinking about moving to cDOT
Re: external fpolicy
I think you are talking about syncronous fpolicy products that will deny access based on policy. There are two leaders in this space, Varonis and Stealthbits. Neither of these products are cheap
Re: WAFL reserve taking large space in aggregate
After volume deletion there is a space reclamation within the aggregate.
This means that capcity won't be immidiately emptied.
This is a nature of WAFL.
if you check the aggregate capacity with df -A command with a time difference of 5-10 minutes
you will see that capacity is slightly being freed up.
so basically the only I can recommend is to wait
Re: external fpolicy
thanks a lot for the answer
i will try to look them ,
have a nice day
NTP clock variables
hi Team,
We have got this vulnerability points for Netapp Storage please assits us for the same.
NTP clock variables information disclosure
NetBIOS NBSTAT Traffic Amplification
Re: WAFL reserve taking large space in aggregate
thank u sir for your reply
i am new to storage and you are right it takes time so let me wait.

Re: NTP clock variables
Do you have access to Active IQ for your cluster? If so, the "Risks" section will include security items that ActiveIQ has detected that your cluster(s) is/are vulnerable to and include links to the security advisory documention, which generally includes remediation steps.
Unable to access CIFS shares
Hello , we had a CIFS server joined to an AD which we had to drop and bring it again back from system state.
is it possible to rejoin or reauthenticate the cifs server to the domain?
when i try to reset the administrator password i receive an error
Error: command failed: Password update failed. Reason: SecD Error: no server available.
Many thanks!
Re: NTP clock variables
If this is for 7-Mode ONTAP I'd suggest opening a support case.
Re: NTP clock variables
I didn't understand what you are asking please share more details.
