Re: Restoring a LUN from with a Volume for 8.2.5 7-Mode

Thanks for the reply, but after some more investigation, I discovered that the volume was no longer needed, so I could just delete it. So, problem resolved. Smiley Happy

That also works Smiley Happy

I've seen that type hang around after 7MTT, it's usually just a matter of setting it to DP.

How to volume move and keep source volume

$

Wow, I found this out by accident.

It appears that if a 'volume move start' operation is instantiated, the source volume will be iretrievably deleted at time of the trigger.  I asked in one of my posts here for NetApp to consider keeping the volume in the volume-recovery queue, however, I've found a better way, and one which already exists.  That is, if a 'volume move start' is instantiated on a volume with a flex-clone, ONTAP warns that the source volume will be kept around temporarily, until the clone is removed, or split.

I have one such operation running right now, and I will post the results.

AutoSupport options...

Hi All

When using cluster mode. Is it possible to have AutoSupports sent to an internal Web server location as opposed to using a SMTP server..?

My AutoSupports cannot be sent direct to netapp as there is no external connectivity and SMTP is a blocked protocol on our network.

So getting a zipped package is difficult.

From the below link it looks like it can be sent out to an FTP site (which i assume could be internal)

https://kb.netapp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1033620/loc/en_US

However again FTP is an unsupported insecure protocol. SFTP would probably work for us however it does not state that is is supported.

At the moment I am having to copy each file out of an Autosupport created via the console from the SPI in to a folder on my local PC.

BTW.

If its possible, it may be acceptable (though not ideal) to enable the option if it is still present to copy the file straight out of a CIFS session browsed directly to the ETC$ folder (as you would with 7Mode.

Can this be enabed as a temporary measure in order to grab a copy of the AutoSupport log dump..?

7MTT Snapmirror replication and network compression

Can't figure out how to get compression enabled on a snapmirror relationship established with 7MTT. Relationship is created fine using the tool. Non-compressed transfer works just fine. I've got many TB worth of data to move and I'd rather see it take a couple days vs weeks.

Policy has compression set to true on the CDOT cluster. Temp license for Snapmirror is installed on both source and target. I've restarted baseline copies and started them from scratch after the policy change. Verified the appropriate policy is applied to the relationship.

Source: 8.2.3P6

Target: 9.4P3

Any guidance much appreciated. I'm pretty new to CDOT.

I don't have access to a cluster that has quotas enabled, so I wasn't able to get any real results, but I was able to successfully execute a CLI command similar to what you provided:

quota report -disk-used >1tb -files-used > 1000000

Have you tried running a similar command?

Hi ,

i think he wishes to make an OR statement rather an AND - that your example will result.

i tried to find a way as well. but the only thing worked for me is just to execute the command twice...

quota report -disk-used >100g;quota report -files-used >500

Thank you for the reply. You are correct; that's what I was going for. I guess I'll just have to settle for looking for similarities between two separate commands.

You need to purge the deleted volume from the recovery-queue, then the keys on kmip server will be removed.

Anything else in the logs besides those 4 things?  And anything in the other equipment?

And what are the code versions of the 8200, MDS and ATTOs?

It seems a like a bug in ONTAP9.4. The issue disappear after I upgrade the ONTAP version to 9.5P3.

There was a few out there.    I have a customer with a 8020 MCC FC on 9.1 and he's seeing one where the cluster thinks an ATTO is offline,  even though it's not.
